László Durányik
László Durányik is one of Hungary’s leading choral conductors, with decades of experience and a distinguished presence in both the national and international choral scenes. He is a conductor, music teacher, and musical director of international projects, as well as an organizer and presenter of workshops and educational concerts.
His work goes far beyond conducting: he is deeply engaged in the development of new musical and educational initiatives and is open to diverse forms of professional collaboration. Whether it involves leading choir workshops, giving lectures, serving on competition juries, or designing new educational programs, he approaches every invitation with the utmost dedication and professionalism.
László Durányik is one of Hungary’s most prominent choral conductors, with a long-standing presence in both the national and international choral music scene. He holds degrees from the Teacher Training College in Nyíregyháza and the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he studied music, mathematics, musicology, and choral conducting.
He began his career as the conductor of the Cantemus Boys’ Choir in Nyíregyháza and currently serves as solfège teacher and choir conductor at the Kodály School in Kecskemét – Hungary’s first and internationally recognized music-focused primary school, established under the personal guidance of Zoltán Kodály. The school remains committed to Kodály’s educational philosophy, upholding high standards in music education and choral tradition.
With decades of dedication, László Durányik founded and leads the Miraculum-Aurin Choir Family, a vibrant artistic community encompassing multiple ensembles. Under his leadership, these choirs have achieved outstanding success in international competitions and festivals, showcasing Hungarian choral excellence worldwide. The choir family includes:

Since 1997, the choirs have won over 65 international awards, including 45 first prizes, and represented Hungary at prestigious events in cities such as Nyíregyháza, Debrecen, Budapest (Hungary), Llangollen (Wales), Celje (Slovenia), Arezzo, Riva del Garda, Grado, Lecco (Italy), Linz (Austria), Tolosa, Cantonigròs (Spain), Tours (France), Kalundborg (Denmark), Neerpelt, Maasmechelen (Belgium), Xiamen (China), Wrocław, Warsaw, Kraków (Poland), Paralia (Greece), and Fundão (Portugal). In addition, they have performed in concert venues across Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Romania, France, Scotland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, North Macedonia, and Portugal.
László Durányik is internationally recognized as an expert in Kodály-based music education and choral training. He regularly gives lectures, masterclasses, and conducting workshops and has served as guest conductor in countries including Australia, South Korea, Scotland, England, the USA, Estonia, Serbia, Iceland, and China (Shanghai, Hong Kong, Beijing). Since 2024, he has been a faculty member at the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét, where he teaches methodology and the legacy of Zoltán Kodály.
He frequently serves on the juries of international choir competitions and plays an active role in developing educational programs and outreach concerts. He is also the musical director of various international projects, particularly within the Erasmus+ program and other cultural, youth, and education-focused initiatives.
